It causes denser components of blood to move to the bottom or the tubes while the less dense components move up to the top. After completion of this process we find blood separates into distinct layers; red blood cells at the bottom, a buffy coat layer containing white blood cells and platelets in the middle, and plasma at the top. Once the separation process in blood bag centrifuge is complete, the desired blood component can be carefully extracted, processed, and prepared for storage or transfusion as needed.
